(1)CAMALIG BANK NOW OFFERS CREDIT SURE
Camalig Bank has recently offered a loan facility to the participants of the Credit Surety Fund (CSF). The participants are cooperatives and members of Albay Mayon Surety Fund. The CSF was launched by the BSP, Albay Provincial Government, and the LBP. Camalig Bank was tapped to be the pioneer bank to join CSF in the Bicol Region. Last 8 November 2010, the Bank has facilitated the first loan release to our pioneer clients, namely, Maricel Dave and Tirso Dajac, both from Manito Employees Development Cooperative.
Mrs. Maricel L. Dave, 32 years old, is a permanent employee of the Local Government of Manito (Clerk assigned at the Engineering Office). The applicant became a member of the Manito Employees Development Cooperative in 2000 when she was then hired by the LGU. From then on she started a small business, i.e., hardware. Together with Raul, her husband, they were able to establish the business from the proceeds of their loan with the cooperative and private persons who trusted them.
In 2008 they decided to invest more in the business, so her husband resigned from his work to personally manage the business and on May 2010, they decided to venture in another business which is copra trading . The husband and wife team is considered a success story of the cooperative because in so short span of time they were able to diversify their venture and fulfilled all financial obligations to the cooperative and private individuals.
Mr.Tirso M. Dajac, 36 years old, a businessman and owner of the TOY-JEAN GENERAL MERCHANDISE, is married to Jennifer Luna Dajac, an agricultural Technologist at the Municipal Agricultural Services Office, LGU Manito. His wife was already a member of the Manito Employees Development Cooperative from 1999 to the present. When they got married in 2004, they decided to start their grocery and agriculture feeds business. Mr. Dajac used to work at different sales distributorship corporations but later decided to go full time in their business venture. So he resigned from his job in 2008, seeing the bigger opportunities for growth in their business..
True indeed, after three years of hard work and determination, they were able to capture the big market share in the municipality. Proof of which is the procurement of a delivery van last year. Another is the lot they acquired as their new strategic site. Both van and lot will be very useful in their business.
Both above success stories would hopefully sustain their momentum with the new funds made available thru the Bank.
